Honda was expected to unleash the next generation CR-V via a 2017 model, but it now turns out that the new crossover will come out as 2018 Honda CR-V. This report confirms itself by several leaked images of a new CR-V.
Although the model in these spy shots is heavily camouflaged, experts have been able to pull off some information. Several reports confirm that this 2018 CR-V will have a new platform that’s also used by Honda Civic.
2018 Honda CR-V Expected Trims and Colors
This new Honda CR-V is likely to come in 4 different trims including Touring, LX, EX-L and EX. Similarly, the exterior body will hold different color options like Crystal Black Pearl, White Diamond Pearl, Basque Red Pearl II, Lunar Silver Metallic and Obsidian Blue Pearl.
2018 Honda CR-V will receive moderate visual refreshment in its exterior body. Revised grille and headlights will characterize the fresh look. The rearmost roof pillar of this model will sport a new modern styling, as hinted by the spy shots. New horizontal taillights will replace the existing vertical taillights and wheel arches seem bit sportier. Experts have also predicted that this 2018 model will grow in size. All in all, the overall new styling is inspired by new Honda Pilot.
2018 Honda CR-V: Powertrain
Honda provides hints of using a 2.4 liter inline 4 gasoline engine which will be producing a torque of 180 lb-ft at 3,900 RPM and 184 HP at 6,400 RPM. For improving efficiency, this engine uses a direct fuel injection and CVT system.
Higher trims will get a 1.5 liter turbocharged 4 cylinder power mill that cranks up 179 lb-ft of torque and 190 HP. These output figures also translate to a better acceleration than the previous model. Like all CR-Vs, this new 2018 model will come standard with a front wheel drive. Buyers will even get the option of choosing all-wheel drive at an additional price.
Changes will make way into the interior cabin of this 2018 Honda CR-V as well. According to what the spy shots hold, the instrument cluster has been rearranged. This cabin also holds a new ergonomic control interface for the infotainment system.
Luxury in this cabin is at its best in trims like Touring as seats get leather upholstery and wooden trims are used extensively. But, that being said, the lower trims can get new standard accessories and features, this time around! As the body/wheelbase will grow, expect the same for this interior cabin’s space. For what it’s worth, legroom ought to increase.
