The first Ford Expedition was made in 1996. Since then, this full-sized SUV has undergone many changes and today it has been positioned between the smaller Explorer and the bigger Excursion. When it was first released, the Ford Expedition was greeted with warmth but over time its sales have waned. The 2017 Ford Expedition Concept marks the start of the 4th generation of the Expedition.
The 2017 Ford Expedition should be large enough to accommodate eight passengers and it comes with a new and improved powertrain, which includes a hybrid version. To ensure that the Ford Expedition can be launched into the market in mid-2016, Ford has decided that all the different trim levels will need to be finalized in the coming 2 years. The new Ford Expedition will be competing with the likes of the Chevy Tahoe and the Toyota Sequoia.
The new Expedition is available in eight trims, which include the following:
- XLT EL
- Limited EL
- King Ranch
- King Ranch EL
- Platinum EL
