With many competitors like the Audi RSQ3 and the Mercedes Benz GLA45 AMG breathing down its neck, BMW plans to introduce the 2017 X1 M as their reply. The standard model is expected in mid-2016 and as has become the norm, the X1 m can be looked forward to a few months later.

The 2017 BMW X1 will have wider wheel tracks to go with a wide body kit that includes bigger fenders. The height of the vehicle is lowered, complemented by a meaner styling and finishes. This model has a sharper look to it. The front features the legendary kidney grille that is flanked by two angular headlights. Lower rocker panels and the inclusion of rear and front fascia’s give the 2017 BMW X1 an aggressive look. New side mirrors based on the M3 are also fitted. Two large air-intake ducts are positioned on the side of the lower, central grille, with two fog lights above it. The new X1 has a smoother look than the current models and is finished off with wider split-spoke wheels.
At the rear, the older L-shaped tail lights have been replaced by sharper stream-lined lights to compliment the width of the rear end.
As is the trademark of all BMW’s the cabin is designed for comfort and finished with quality. BMW is renowned as a car built for the driver and the 2017 BMW X1 is no different. The way the instruments, steering wheel and consoles has been designed around the driver seat, is pure pleasure. Changes in the new release include a bigger central console and a bigger multimedia touch screen located in the center near the top of the dashboard. Standard on all models is the multifunctional steering wheel and straightforward instrument cluster. The X1 M models will include the usual M upgrades that feature metal trim and M-mode button on the steering wheel. Leather adds class to the seating and panels with beautiful silver trims to please the eye.
2017 BMW X1 Engine Specs
Information is scarce, but the 2017 BMW X1 will be launched with a 1,5 liter 3 cylinder turbocharged engine, similar to that of the Mini Hardtop. If you want performance a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder turbo engine will be available that delivers 190 horsepower. A petrol-electric plug-in hybrid engine is also rumored to be available later on. All models will be fitted with an eight speed automatic transmission for effective and smooth driving. Front-wheel drive is standard on all models with BMW’s XDrive AWD system available as optional.
2017 BMW X1 Release Date and Price
Expect the 2017 BMW X1 to challenge the multipurpose smart SUV market next year, although it might not offer as much as some of its more powerful competitors. It is still a high quality, luxury SUV that will appeal to BMW enthusiasts. The pricing has not been finalized yet, but with the current X1 selling at $ 31 200 for the two-wheel drive version and $ 33 000 for the four-wheel drive, don’t expect that it will differ much from that.
