The all new sport utility vehicle from automaker Bentley will bear the name, Bentayga. The name was actually taken from a Canary Islands mountain range, the Roque Bentayga. The Bentayaga name has was officially been linked to the vehicle by the automaker, via an announcement at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show. Many within the industry agree that the name choice is ideal since the vehicle is to be adventure inspired as well as rugged. The CEO and Chairman of Bentley, Wolfgana Durheimer contends that the name choice is a reflection upon what the automaker knows in regards to their sport utility vehicle. That it will be much better than any other in the world today.
2016 Bentley Bentayga Engine Specs
According to the automaker’s announcements regarding the 2016 Bentley Bentayga, it will feature a W12 engine (standard) in addition to a diesel and hybrid plugin variant. The hybrid version of the vehicle will be either a V-6 or V-8 that will be attached to an electronic motor that is predicted to power the vehicle for 31 miles before converting to fuel. The diesel engine option is said to be a V-8 option and this will mark the inaugural time that Bentley has utilized this form of drivetrain. However, industry experts speculate that the hybrid option may not become an available until the 2017 model year version of the Bentayaga.
2016 Bentley Bentayga Design
The Bentayaga was first introduced in 2012 as the ever controversial EXP9F concept vehicle. The 2016 Bentley Bentayga is said to be featuring proportions that are similar to the EXP9F, the look of the new vehicle will be drastically different. The first sport utility vehicle for Bentley will feature four individual lights as its headlights as opposed to a duo of lights that were outfitting the concept model.
The vehicle will be able to comfortably seat five passengers and there has been industry chatter indicating that a seven passenger unit may also be available to consumers. The underpinning will be identical to the sport utility version of the Volkswagen MLB Evo that made its debut within the body of the Audi Q7.
It has been highly rumored that after the bevy of announcements made at the auto show regarding the sport utility vehicle, there are approximately 4,000 people interested in owning it. That total is fairly close to the 3,500 vehicles that Bentley is slated to manufacture. More than likely, the 2016 Bentley Bentayaga will be officially unveiled within 2015, and delivered for sale within 2016. According to Kevin Rose, the sales and marketing director of Bentley, the automaker plans to sell an average of 3,000 to 4,000 units of the sport utility vehicle each year.
2016 Bentley Bentayga Release Date and Price
The 2016 Bentley Bentayaga will enter the market as the automaker’s very first sport utility vehicle and will have an attached base price of £140,000. The 2016 Bentley Bentayga may be higher in price than other models within its class, but as Durheimer proclaimed, it will be second to none. Consumers will be guaranteed the same high quality and luxury within this vehicle as one would any model that has been delivered by Bentley.
